Maryland Insurance Administration to Hold Second Public Hearing on Long-Term Care Insurance

BALTIMORE, Nov. 23 -- The Maryland Insurance Administration issued the following news release:
Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. announced that the Insurance Administration will hold a second public hearing on long-term care insurance. The hearing will focus on several rate increase requests before the Maryland Insurance Administration. These include requests from Bankers Life and Casualty Company, John Alden Life Insurance Company, Senior Health Insurance Company of Pennsylvania, Physicians Mutual Insurance Company and Northwestern Long Term Care Insurance Company. The purpose of the hearing is for insurance company officials to explain their reasons for the rate increases. Commissioner Redmer will also listen to comments from consumers, producers and other interested parties at the hearing. Steps are also being implemented to post future rate filings to the Maryland Insurance Administration's website for review. The hearing will be held at the following time and location:
