Mad As Hell: Seven In 10 Americans Angry At Political Establishment
Aug. 25--Seven in 10 Americans are angry at the political establishment, according to a new poll.
A NBC/Wall Street Journal survey found that 70% of respondents were mad "because our political system seems to only be working for the insiders with money and power, like those on Wall Street or in Washington."
The level of anger is nearly identical to four years ago, when 69% of Americans polled said they were "angry" at the political system.
But Republicans are less enraged, likely thanks to the election of President Trump, whose campaign focused on GOP grievances.
This year, 29% of Republicans said they were angry at the political establishment, a drop of 10% from 2015.
But Democrats made up the difference, with 54% of them voicing fury -- a 10% uptick from four years ago.
"Four years ago, we uncovered a deep and boiling anger across the country engulfing our political system," NBC quoted pollster Jeff Horwitt as saying. "Four years later, with a very different political leader in place, that anger remains at the same level."
