"We have not been informed by the Legislature that there will be any fix," said Commissioner
County officials said each department was asked to come up with 8.5 percent in reductions to offset the loss and avoid dipping into rainy-day funds to balance the budget. Of the 18 departments, courts, or elected offices, eight found ways to meet the cuts asked by commissioners and four others reduced their budgets for a nearly 4 percent overall reduction in spending.
"We will continue to work for efficiencies. We will continue to press our other elected officials to understand the graveness of 2018 and 2019 collectively," he said. "I think most of the offices made a good effort to make the reductions."

Planning will continue for brick-and-mortar projects, including building a new criminal justice center and Canine Care and Control facility, the commissioners added.

The budget, the commissioners said, provides for 3 percent wage increases to employees, including those covered by union contracts.
