In September 2016, the Senate Finance Committee voted 26-0 to eliminate the stretch IRA. In the past, a unanimous vote by the Committee would make passage by Congress a near certainty. One may argue that predicting future tax law can be difficult with President Donald J. Trump and a Republican Congress.
