He said the structure fire left moderate damage to a two-car garage at the residence, and smoke damage to the apartment above it.
As of now, Kirby said he is unsure of what caused the initial spark, but that he believes the fire was "accidental."
"I know that it looked accidental and that they were working on the apartment upstairs for a girl getting ready to move in," he told The Register. "I don't know what started it, but I do know that it appeared accidental."
Fortunately, there were no injuries to residents or staff with RFD.
From here, Kirby said the matter was in the hands of insurance companies, who will investigate the matter further.
The road was opened later on Saturday after crews had cleared the scene.
