What health-care reform do you support for
Jarvis: When you consider the fact of whether or not Medicaid expansion is a sustainable option, when you review the trillions of dollars that the federal government is in debt, due to the fact that we have an opioid and mental health crisis -- it is not a sustainable option. The federal government will pass the cost down to the state, counties and cities over time. I am in support of working to reform mental health and the health insurance industry.
Sellars: I am definitely in favor of expanding Medicaid because that is the only way I feel we can best serve the citizens of N.C. A Medicare managed care plan is one way to get coverage for the health-care bills that Medicare doesn't pay. Medicare-managed care plans are HMOs or PPOs that provide basic Medicare coverage plus other coverage to fill the gaps in Medicare coverage. Coverage gaps refer to people who do not qualify for Medicaid today, but who don't qualify for subsidies with insurance on the health insurance marketplace. In
Which constitutional amendments do you support or not support, and why?
Sellars: I am personally not in favor of any of the constitutional amendments. Our state's
Jarvis: I support all six amendments. In order to understand the amendments you need to research and understand how each is currently being handled. After voters research each amendment, they have the opportunity and privilege to make their voice heard and determine the outcome.
What would be your top-3 goals as a representative?
Jarvis: Promote a quality education for our children; address/enhance regulatory reform; provide an economy conducive for growth, which will entice new industry, promote jobs and lower taxes.
