SENATE BILL 28: Establishes the Nursing Faculty Loan Repayment Grant Program to increase the number of nursing faculty in
SENATE BILL 33: Permits a person who may legally possess a firearm to possess a firearm on school property, unless prohibited by the house of worship, if the person possesses the firearm as an employee or volunteer of a house of worship located on the school property, or while attending a worship service or religious ceremony conducted at a house of worship.

SENATE BILL 428: Requires the department to describe in a child's case plan any efforts made to coordinate with school officials in developing the case plan, if efforts to coordinate with school officials are made.

Senate Bill 99: Requires the prosecuting attorney to file an affidavit of probable cause with a court no later than seven days after property is seized, and provides for the return of the property to the owner if the court does not find probable cause.

Senate Bill 217: Requires that a school multidisciplinary team must include information about dyslexia in a student's educational evaluation if the multidisciplinary team determines that the student is eligible to receive special education and related services and has dyslexia or has characteristics of dyslexia.
Senate Bill 237: Replaces the dual license system (having "qualified" and "unlimited" licenses) with the single handgun license and increases the duration of a four-year handgun license to five years.

The following bills were approved by the
Senate Bill 4: Pertaining to the
Senate Bill 6: A technical corrections bill that resolves outdated language and citation style throughout Indiana Code.
Senate Bill 9: Current law in
Senate Bill 13: SB 13 addresses the opioid crisis in
Senate Bill 20: Resolves a mistake made in 2017 legislation that inadvertently overruled a previous statute allowing the use of rifles firing handgun cartridges to hunt deer on public lands. SB 20 restores a citizen's right to use this type of firearm and ammunition.
Senate Bill 74: Adds the substance "Mexodrone" to the definition of "synthetic drug" and adds additional controlled substances to the existing statutory list of depressants, hallucinogens, and opiates classified as a schedule I drug.
Senate Bill 98: Addresses the implementation of specialized driving privileges, which will end at the time the driver's suspension ends if the underlying conviction forming the basis of the suspension is reversed, or the individual is acquitted or found not liable of the underlying act or offense.
Senate Bill 105: Removes duties surrounding the
Senate Bill 123: Creates a Safe
Senate Bill 137: Requires businesses to allow customers with eligible medical conditions to access an employee-designated restrooms upon request. The bill makes eligible customers responsible for the condition the restroom is left in and provides immunity from civil liability on the part of the employers.
Senate Bill 142: In 2016,
Senate Bill 155: This bill deals with the issue of voters who have submitted absentee ballots but have subsequently passed away. SB 155 requires that absentee ballots marked by deceased voters be counted if the ballot would otherwise have been counted had the voter not died.
Senate Bill 158: This bill prohibits the act of performing or offering scleral tattooing, unless by a licensed health care professional in the scope of their professional practice. Scleral tattooing is the dangerous process of tattooing the whites of the eyeball that often leads to infection and the potential loss of vision.
Senate Bill 224: SB 224 deals with the licensing of behavioral health and human services professionals. It allows up to 50% of required supervised experience hours to be accounted for through virtual supervision by the appropriate supervisor.
Senate Bill 225: SB 225 makes amendments to the continuing education requirements for licensed health care practitioners who apply for a controlled substances regulation. It specifies that of the current training hours required every two years, two of them must address the topic of opioid prescribing and abuse. This bill will help prepare our health care professionals to deal with the repercussions of the opioid crisis.
Senate Bill 230: This bill addresses the topic of suicide prevention by putting into motion the development of a training program for health care providers on topics concerning suicide assessment, training, and management. SB 230 requires EMT's to complete research-based training programs regarding suicide prevention as well.
Senate Bill 281: SB 281 helps support our police force by providing certain sheriffs and county police officers service credits in their department retirement plans for service to those departments taking place before the effective dates of the retirement plans. At the same time, this bill stipulates that these sheriffs and police officers waive their accrued service credit in the public employees' retirement fund for these service dates before the effective dates of the retirement plans.
