Hoyer Statement on Trump Administration's Decision to Roll Back Women's Access to Contraception
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Trump Administration announced they would roll back the contraception coverage policy in the Affordable Care Act:
"With today's decision, it becomes even clearer that President Trump believes that women's access to affordable contraception should be a decision not for her but for her employer. No woman should have to ask permission from her boss to make decisions about her own health. The contraceptive coverage rules implemented under President Obama have made it easier for millions of women to afford their health care costs. I urge the President to reconsider this malicious policy change, which will disadvantage women across the country and cause their health care costs to rise. Democrats in Congress will continue to work for affordable health care coverage for all Americans and respect for individuals' right to make their own health care choices."
