Fire claims house and pets; Smoke damage extensive

Denton said firefighters responded to the 3400 block of
Denton said the blaze sent smoke into the rest of the home before the fire was extinguished. The house to the north sustained minor damage as the flames blew through a garage door.
"Everything in the rest of the house was totally destroyed," Denton said.
Residents were away from their home during the fire, but firefighters were unable to save the lives of two large pet dogs, already deceased within the home.
"As they were working to put the fire out the homeowners did show up," Denton said.
He said it is ultimately up to the insurance company if they want to rebuild the residence. The roof was intact and the fire did not extend much into the roof, Denton said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
