Fire and rescue training center planned for Cumberland County’s industrial park

The facility, which will be adjacent to the sheriff's training center and Animal Control shelter, will include classrooms, live fire buildings, apparatus bays, technical rescue areas and other specialized training grounds, according to a statement released by the county. It will allow the college to add classes not currently offered, including fire investigation and arson certification, thermal image school, vehicle extrication school, and high angle rescue technician, the statement said.
The center also will provide additional training facilities for volunteer fire departments that are part of the fire chiefs association and other emergency workers. The facility also could draw emergency workers from across the state and out-of-state with unique training courses, according to the statement.
