Vogt said it took longer than expected to approve the county's agreement because there were some changes in the proposed building's plan. The proposed building went from a 15-story tower to an 18-story structure.
The changes increased the cost of the proposed project from
Vogt said he's happy to see the county being part of such an important project.
"It's really exciting, when you think about the fact that it's the first new building being built in 40 years in our Downtown and how much we have talked about how we needed to have Downtown rehabilitation," Vogt said. "So, aside from the Chihuahuas and restaurants and bars, we are now hopefully starting to see folks focus on the development of office space in the Downtown area and retail space."
The proposed glass-covered building could be completed in late 2019 or early 2020.
