The key words there were "within the agency." For conservatives, Pruitt's official actions were a highlight of this administration. Yet he also has been a lightning rod for controversies, some more serious than others, and most unrelated to official actions.

On the policy front, Pruitt's brief tenure -- 17 months -- did much to improve the national economy and better address true environmental concerns. It also ensured he would be attacked. Thus, his actions needed to be above reproach and they were not. Pruitt's time was marred by constant controversy.
Some "scandals" were laughable, including one claim that Pruitt's daughter received a college letter of recommendation due to his pulling strings as head of the
Other controversies were, frankly, bizarre, such as a complaint Pruitt used agency staff to try to get a discount on a used mattress and search for his favorite lotion.
Still others were disturbing, such as allegations Pruitt used government employees to seek a job for his wife and tried to mask international travel with a thin veneer of official business.
