In his department's annual report for last year, Horne said there is a "desperate need" for a new fire engine and aerial truck to replace equipment that is at least 15 years old.
"This will be a large financial obligation for the city," according to the report.
In the statement released by the city Friday, Horne said he is "proud of our department and what we have been able to accomplish."
