City may curb spousal health coverage

The spousal eligibility revision is one of the changes in the 2019 Cigna renewal, which officials recommend the council approve next month.

Officials said the city will consider moving to a self-funded insurance model next year, where the city would operate its own health plan rather than pay a premium to an insurance carrier.
