Bill to establish paid family, medical leave in NH moves forward

Funding for the program would come from employers who would have to pay premiums on a quarterly basis, equal to 0.5 percent of wages per employee per week for each week.
Employees would contribute 0.5 percent of their weekly wage, and be eligible for up to 12 weeks of leave each year for family medical emergencies, the birth or adoption of a child or a personal medical condition.

"This insurance program would help attract younger workers to the state by ensuring our workforce has access to the time they need to care for their health and the health of their families without jeopardizing their financial security or dropping out of the workforce," she said. "Until this legislation becomes law, we will continue to strongly advocate for this broadly supported and desperately needed program."
