The Iowa Insurance Division has launched a new initiative to combat investment and insurance fraud. The program, called "Iowa Fraud Fighters -- Shield Your Savings" is geared toward seniors. There will be an outreach forum open to the public at
"Unfortunately, many smart Iowans have fallen victim to these very slick and sophisticated investment scammers, and some have lost their entire life savings," Gerhart said.
The new state program has a website that is expanding offerings for seniors (and anyone else for that matter) to educate themselves about fraud and how to avoid it. The site, iowafraudfighters.gov, includes tips for avoiding fraud, answers to common questions, information about types of fraud and links to additional resources.
