It will be her first time to hold elected office, although she was politically active in recent congressional elections and other local elections before that.
"I have my preferences on which committees I would like to serve, but we don't know yet who the committee chairmen will be and what members will be on what committees, and we probably won't know until after we are sworn in and the session gets underway," she said.

"With short budget revenues, they will be looking at every idea and proposal to save money," she said.
"We don't need to keep on repeating and re-implementing policies that don't, and haven't, worked," she added. "I would be inclined to support merging non-performing school districts and systems."
She said she also has requested to be placed on the Agriculture Committee.
Hill said that she is "still in the process of developing legislation to protect rural and municipal water systems.
"With regard to strengthening the rural water, I am looking at sponsoring three bills," she added.
She said that one of her main interests is to support Gov.-elect
"I will support Bryant in this. I am all for it, to try and get the high school kids in the community college vo-tech curriculums earlier to help keep their interests up and prevent them from dropping out of school," she said.
"Bryant and Barbour have addressed this issue in some of the briefings I have been in, and that was one of my campaign points. I strongly support this effort," she said.
"This is for kids who know they are not going four years to college. We need to go ahead and enroll them in the community colleges vo-tech or other specialized training to get them started early on a career path," she added.
"But the biggest thing we will face, and have been briefed on, is that we have budget shortfalls due to declining revenue. We also have stimulus money that is running out, that they previously could count on. And you have state agencies asking for larger budgets than they asked for last year. The money is just not there, so funding will have to be prioritized. Some tough decisions are going to have to be made," she said.
