School board renews Rheingans’ contract

The board completed a comprehensive evaluation that included administrators, teachers and selected parents and community leaders who interacted with Rheingans. Donohue said after the meeting that if Rheingans was the president, he would have had a 92 percent to 95 percent approval rating.
"The feedback was incredible," Donohue said, adding that people felt they have been communicated with in a way they haven't before.
Rheingans plans to continue that positive communication with the strategic plan guiding his decisions.
"We had many positive comments on the community input, and I know that those comments really mean that the entire staff is doing a good job," Rheingans said after the meeting.
In other business, the board:
* Approved a "buddy bench" donation to
Hoover will incorporate the buddy bench into its character education. Hoover will not have to pay for the bench.
* Approved the donation of a damaged school bus to local emergency responders for training purposes.
