The exact total of the Expo sale won't be known for a while, as additional "add on" money typically comes in to the sale in the days and weeks that follow. But for now, it's clear the new record has been set.

All that effort does make it tough when the sale time comes, however. These farm kids know the score about where the animals end up. This is McGraw's third grand champion steer at the Navarro County Youth Expo, and saying goodbye doesn't get any easier with practice.

"I'll be a little bit sad to see them go, but not when I see the money," Anaya said.
Anaya and Steely Southard, Blooming Grove FFA, have a friendly rivalry going, and Southard brought home the Reserve Champion prize in lambs.

In the poultry division,
Although she's participated for years in the Expo, showing both animals and crafts, she's also in band, power-lifting and judging. She'll miss the Expo, particularly for the camaraderie of the kids and support from the parents, teachers, and volunteers.
"I'll miss all of it," she said, adding that she'll be back. "I'll come every year."
