Pathway Genomics Names Robert C. Verfurth as Vice President of Sales

Pathway Genomics Corp., a San Diego-based CAP-accredited clinical laboratory that offers genetic testing services worldwide, announced it has appointed Robert C. Verfurth as vice president of sales.

According to a release, based at Pathway Genomics' San Diego headquarters, in this executive management position, Verfurth will assume responsibility for leading the company's U.S. sales division.

Throughout his career, Verfurth has played an integral, frontline role in transforming early-stage sales teams into highly profitable sales forces. He was the vice president of sales at Dianon Systems, which LabCorp purchased for $598 million in 2003, as well as Prometheus Laboratories where he built the sales team into a mature, high revenue-generating industry force. While at Prometheus Laboratories, Verfurth also built a managed care team focused on the insurance payer market, which contributed to the purchase of the company in 2011 by Nestle Health Science for more than $500 million.

With more than 20 years in the medical diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries, Verfurth's record is impressive and expansive. Most recently, Verfurth was responsible for all sales and marketing efforts for the suite of products at Innovus Pharmaceuticals. Verfurth was also vice president of U.S. sales at GeneOhm Sciences, which was purchased by Becton Dickinson. He continued his leadership role in the company's West region of the U.S. sales division.

Prior to his experience in the health care industry, Verfurth served six years in the U.S. Air Force as a telecommunications and electronics maintenance officer in Germany and Japan.
