"We've had a lot of phone calls and several people will be moving in within the next few days," said Thorne. "There is a handfull of success right now and we anticipate more by the end of the year."

Thorne described the promotion as, "Just a neat gimmick," that could provide an incentive for people to occupy vacant properties.
"My goal is to get the houses rented for the landlords," said Thorne. "I try to come up with incentives to get people interested in properties."

According to Thorne, insurance usually does not cover properties vacant between 90 and 180 days. Also, in the winter season, there are issues such as frozen pipes and in general, yard maintenance.

"You'll actually have the opportunity to apply directly online (for vacant rental properties). You'll also have the ability to fill out maintenance requests and see the properties online. It will list all our rental policies and should be a lot more comprehensive than before."
