Frank Yam of Hong Kong Appointed International Director of ISACA

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., June 13 -- The Information Systems Audit and Control Association issued the following news release:

ISACA, a global association serving 115,000 information systems (IS) governance, assurance, risk and security professionals in 180 countries, installed its 2014-2015 Board of Directors today. Frank Yam, CISA, CCP, CFE, CFSA, CIA, FFA, FHKCS, FHKIoD, FHKITJC, chief executive officer (CEO) for Focus Strategic Group Inc. (Hong Kong) and adjunct professor for the Nanjing Audit University in Mainland China, was appointed international director of the organization.

Now in its 45th year, ISACA develops international standards, frameworks and guidance to help enterprises optimize the value of their information and systems and ensure that technology is fully integrated with the business. ISACA established the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) designations, and recently announced a new cybersecurity certificate and practitioner certification.

These new credentials are part of ISACA's Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX), a comprehensive program to help enterprises address the global cybersecurity skills shortage and help individuals develop their careers. CSX fills a need for a central source where security professionals and their enterprises can find research and guidance, career resources, credentials, education and training, mentoring, and community. ISACA is also the creator of COBIT, the internationally accepted business framework that enables companies to better manage and govern their information and technology.

Yam has been very active in leadership roles for numerous local and international professional bodies. He is a member of ISACA's Strategic Advisory Council and chair of ISACA's Credentialing and Career Management Board. He has served on ISACA's board previously as international vice president from 2004-2009 and has served on ISACA's Leadership Development Committee, Membership Board, Ways & Means Board, Marketing Board, Governmental and Regulatory Agency Board, Global Program Committee, China Task Force, Leadership Development Committee, and Chapter Support Committee. He was chair of the Asia Computer Audit, Control and Security (CACS) conference and the chair of the Expert Review Team for the translation of COBIT into Simplified Chinese. He has also held several positions on ISACA's China Hong Kong Chapter board, including president from 1996-1998. He received ISACA's John Kuyers Award in 2002 and the International President Appreciation Award in 1998.

Yam is the founder of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners' Hong Kong Chapter and has served as Council Member and Chairperson of the Information Security Specialist Group for the Hong Kong Computer Society, and Ambassador of the Hong Kong Tourism Board. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, a Life Fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society, and a Fellow of the Hong Kong IT Joint Council.
