BRIEF: Cumberland County to offer free flu shots to the uninsured [The Fayetteville Observer, N.C.]

Jan. 06--Free flu shots are being offered to uninsured Cumberland County residents.

The shots are available at the Health Department at 1235 Ramsey St., according to a news release.

Shots also are available at no cost to those who are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, N.C. Health Choice or Blue Cross Blue Shield, the release said.

Residents covered by other insurance will be charged $42 for a flu shot and $49 for Flumist, the release said.

A high-dose flu vaccine designed for those 65 and older is available for $62, the release said.

Children who meet the "Vaccine For Children" program guidelines will be vaccinated at no charge.

That includes children on Medicaid, those who have no health insurance or whose insurance doesn't cover vaccines or those are American Indians or Alaskan natives, the release said.

The shots are available Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon and from 1-4 p.m., the release said.
