Sterling & Sterling, Inc. today announced that
Howard Tollin has joined the private insurance brokerage as President of Sterling Environmental Services. In this newly-created position, he will report to
Leslie Nylund, President, and be responsible for working closely with clients on evaluating and managing corporate environmental exposures not often covered by general liability and property insurance policies.

Prior to joining Sterling & Sterling, Tollin was Managing Director at
Aon Risk Solutions, as well as Breitstone & Co. Ltd., which was acquired by Aon in 2006. He also served as a Partner in the
Insurance Practice Group at
Rivkin Radler,
Long Island's largest law firm, where he supervised complex insurance coverage litigation and environmental claims. Tollin has worked on hundreds of property transactions involving contaminated brownfield properties, mergers and acquisitions, and construction projects. In 2012, he was awarded Environmental Power Broker and the Liberty Mutual Responsibility Leader by
Risk & Insurance.
Tollin is the sole environmental section representative in the
New York State Bar
Association House of Delegates, where he represents the interests of the section's 1,200 attorneys. In addition, he is the Development Chair and on the Board of Directors for
New Partners for Community Revitalization, a nonprofit organization that led the effort to create the landmark NYS Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program where
$32.4 million was awarded to 110 communities to support brownfield site redevelopment. Tollin has continued to serve for more than a decade on the
Advisory Board for the WISE Program at
Stony Brook University, and he is the Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious 24 year old
Environmental Claims Journal.

Tollin received his J.D. from the
Hofstra UniversitySchool of Law, and is a graduate of
Binghamton University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He currently resides in
North Bellmore, NY and is married with two children.
