His wife now lives in a nursing home while Humphrey stays in a camper that's not well-equipped with air or heat for extreme temperature days, Carlyle said.
The couple did not have insurance on their home, the fundraiser page stated.
"He worked his whole life for that house," Carlyle said. "I don't think he wants to just tear it down and move on."
Humphrey is still holding out hope that his house on
"I'm laying in bed one night and I can't sleep," Carlyle said. "I just can't stop thinking about that house."
Carlyle's heart ached for Humphrey, knowing he was living in the little camper -- inside which Carlyle always finds Humphrey hot and sweaty due to the hot summer days -- and Carlyle told his wife he wanted to do something to help.
Carlyle went to speak with Humphrey and said he told him, "I feel like I'm supposed to help you somehow."
When he learned of the steep price tag to fix the house, Carlyle said it was like water had been put on his fire; but he didn't give in. Brainstorming ways to help Humphrey, Carlyle asked him if he'd be willing to move into a single-wide trailer. After a couple of weeks thinking it over, Humphrey agreed.
There's not a specific total amount he hopes to raise for the trailer, Carlyle said, but from past experience he believes he'll need to raise at least

Carlyle said he plans to draw for door prizes, like gift cards, and the television at the festival, but will hold the other items back to continue selling tickets until the fall when he'll do another drawing at a date to be determined.

Carlyle said he didn't want the focus on him for his actions.
"I just want the glory to go to Jesus," Carlyle said. "I felt like that's what God wanted me to do, I felt convicted over it. I hope people see that."
