No one injured in Jasper school bus fire
No one was injured, but the bus was damaged beyond repair -- reduced to a "metal shell," according to
"The good news is nobody was hurt," Hess said of the Wednesday fire. "The kids are safe. Everyone did what they were supposed to do."
While Hess said the district has enough vehicles to fill in for the destroyed bus in the short term, it will eventually have to be replaced. The district's insurance will cover only part of the replacement cost because the destroyed bus had depreciated in value.

"We have an activity bus and another spare until we can look at the budget and decide what we're going to do," she said, adding that the school would likely try to purchase a used bus.

Hess said the cause of the fire may never be known, given the damage to the bus.
