But Shultz said he felt the supervisors were making "a grave mistake" just because of some people having issues with particular authority members.
"It's a well-run authority, there's no debt, there's a capital reserve," Shultz pointed out.
Authority board members, appointed by the supervisors, are unpaid.
He asked if the supervisors would take control of the tasks the authority performed, such as the maintenance of pumping stations, miles of water lines and sewer system, as well as billing.
"I think it would become a maintenance nightmare," Shultz said.
But Scott said the authority, which operated independently of the township, would become the township water and sewer department. He said the same employees would run the day-to-day operations. The authority employees a secretary and an operator.
"It would not longer need a five-member board and three attorneys," Scott said. "That is an excess."
