IU Health CEO expects to see focus on community health
It's all part of a transition of the health care industry from a culture of volume to one of value, a change that Murphy says will require health systems to re-evaluate how they train people, how they partner with other institutions and how they manage patient groups based on the degree of care each needs.

Murphy described the old model of hospitals as a place that patients seek out only when they are sick, where success is measured by how many procedures are done there.
Now, he said, "It's not about how much we do; it's about how healthy you are."
Murphy said the challenge for the future is to find patients before their health problems become acute, to make sure they are healthy and to keep them healthy. He said that will require health care providers to be more proactive and have a broader impact on critical community health issues such as drug addiction, smoking and obesity.
