Insurance Commissioner to Conduct Public Meeting Regarding Bail Bonds Industry

BALTIMORE, Nov. 22 -- The Maryland Insurance Administration issued the following news release:
Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. will conduct a public meeting to discuss issues related to the bail bonds industry. The meeting will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 200 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, MD 21202, 22nd Floor Francis Scott Key room from 2:15 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Immediately preceding this meeting, the Maryland Insurance Administration will provide an opportunity for bail bonds producers to obtain one (1) hour of continuing education credit by attending an optional training session in the same location from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The training session will focus on the requirements of Code of Maryland Regulations 31.03.05. Pre-registration will be required to participate in the training. "As Maryland's Insurance Commissioner, I am very interested in gathering information and opinions about the State's bail bonds industry," Commissioner Redmer said. "In a series of public forums, we are reaching out to consumers, producers, business owners and insurance entities to hear opinions, questions and concerns about the insurance marketplace." The Commissioner and his staff will be available for interviews with the media.
