Lutz said smoke was pouring from the back of the house when firefighters arrived on the scene and the family was trying to get their dogs out of the burning building.
He said the fire started in the basement of the home that had a lot of items stored in the area which made it difficult for the firefighters to extinguish the blaze. He said the fire went up the walls to the first floor.
"The first floor started sagging so we pulled everyone out," Lutz said. He said the firefighters tore out a wall and were then able to extinguish the fire.
