She attributed the surge in demand for health insurance at least in part to marketplaces set up under the Affordable Care Act and Cigna's new push to offer customers more guidance to navigate the health care system.
The company has been seeing more people like part-timers and temporary workers who buy insurance directly rather than through an employer, meaning they don't have the benefit of help from resources such as human resources departments.

"We've seen some of these (growth) trends in terms of eds and meds, and this is a continuation of that,"
He added that while officials always want to see an influx of high-wage professional jobs, the expected pay range for Cigna's customer service staff is "a decent wage for this area" where costs are low -- and a good fit for the county's workforce.

The business is looking for people with strong communication skills; proficiency in data entry, typing and using computers; the ability to work well in teams; and capability of finding and interpreting complex information.
It requires a 10-week training course and offers medical, dental and retirement benefits, tuition reimbursement after six months and access to an on-site healthy life center with a fitness center, personal training and nurse practitioner.
