“The Asia-Pacific market is huge, and our customers’ expectations are rising,” said Ma. “They set their expectations in line with the best that they have experienced. With this in mind, we have to ask ourselves: Are we still the insurance company that offers compensation when a customer has encountered a claimable event? Or are we an insurance company that partners’ with our customers to help them lead the lifestyle that may prevent or delay a claimable event from happening? If we can serve our customers well, then they will be our customers for the long term.”
Ma also said that he believes “with the right product and services, the potential for the insurance industry in the Asian market is significant.”
