Neither team was very solid defensively Monday night as they combined for seven errors, four by the Cougars which led to four unearned runs.

Though it was announced AHS had just five hits, the Blue Comets actually tallied six safeties, including two RBI doubles from Clayton. His first double gave the Blue Comets a 4-1 lead in the third and his second RBI hit gave AHS a much-needed insurance run in the seventh.
Kucinski hurled 3 2/3 strong innings, holding the Cougars to just two singles, both coming with two outs in the fifth. He struck out five and faced just 13 batters, retiring the final seven he faced.
"He ate us up," Clapp said of Kucinski. "The last three years, he's come in and shut the door for them against us. We didn't stay back. He's a smart pitcher."

"It was a coach's decision," Murray said of the change. "Chase has been in that situation a lot this season and we were hoping he could get us out of that inning. He did better as the game went on."

Clayton was hit by a pitch and scored on a throwing error in the sixth inning and he then drove in Kucinski in the seventh with his second double. Kucinski had singled and stolen second.
"We made some early errors, but then we settled down and played pretty well," Murray said.
The Cougars, who must now wait for the state 3-A playoffs which begin next week, finished with six hits as six different players had one hit each.
