Rana McNamara Joins The American College’s Advancement Division
BRYN MAWR, PA – November 1, 2012 – Rana McNamara, CFRE®, has joined The American College, the nation’s premier financial services educator, as their Advancement Division’s new Director of Annual Giving and Major Gifts.
McNamara brings over 20 years of development and marketing experience to The College with educational institutions, social service agencies and faith-based organizations. As the Development Director for national and regional nonprofits, she has designed and implemented numerous comprehensive fundraising programs.
“Rana is a welcome addition to our team,” said Charles T. “Tip” Cronin III, CLU®, CAP® at The American College. “Her ability to develop comprehensive fundraising programs as part of annual giving, major giving and capital campaigns strengthens The American College’s fundraising capabilities. With her help, The College will continue to secure the support needed to develop cutting-edge designation and degree programs. This education is critical to the career success of financial services professionals.”
As the Director of Annual Giving and Major Gifts, McNamara will be responsible for all annual giving including President’s Circle. Founded by industry leaders, President’s Circle is a group of peers who dedicate their continued support to the mission of The American College -- “… to strengthen not only its student’s professionalism, but also the financial security of individuals, businesses, families and the society they serve.” President’s Circle is comprised of individuals who make donations of $1,500 and above during a calendar year. Both personal donations and matches from corporations count toward the gift total.
Other annual giving initiatives to be overseen by McNamara include the institution’s outbound fundraising call center; direct mail, e-mail and other electronic donor outreach and well as responsibility for public fundraising events.
“I’m looking forward to helping The American College fulfill its mission,” said McNamara. “The education provided by The College is an essential building block in our efforts to provide financial security to all Americans. When consumers seek out expert advice from knowledgeable, qualified and experienced financial services professionals, everyone benefits. With the help of our donors, The College will have the financial resources needed to give professionals the skills and knowledge they need to effectively address many vexing family and business issues including retirement savings, healthcare costs and estate planning.”
McNamara earned her BA from Rutgers University and a Fundraising Certificate from New York University (NYU). She was President of the Parent Association (2000-2003) and a long-range member of the organization’s strategic planning committee. McNamara also volunteers at St. John’s Hospice.
