"The concern with a zero cell count is possibility of the cancer returning," LaDonna said. "We have been going through this for quite a while. ...Adam is a fighter."

The doctor's did blood work and told his mother that his potassium level was low. LaDonna recalls the last thing she remembers from that moment was the physician saying she thought "the boy had cancer."
Once test results returned, Adam was diagnosed with stage 3 leukemia and was immediately started on treatments to combat the cancer.
"I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and donations," Adam said from his bedroom. " I'm feeling good today."

But because of Adam's condition, the disease has left his immune system compromised and doctors were concerned for his health.
"His doctor said he has to just let this virus run its course," LaDonna said. "Adam has to wait until his fever goes back to normal before we can continue with his treatments."
Adam must continue his chemotherapy treatments through 2016, according to LaDonna. He tolerates the treatments well and was feeling better Monday afternoon after getting home, she said.
LaDonna has created an fundraising website to help offset medical costs not covered by insurance and the costs of travel for Adam's hospital stays.
