According to a study conducted by insurance companies, parking lots and garages are the most common places where people suffer falls. Those situations are best avoided by wearing proper footwear, like a "heavy treaded shoe," and by watching your balance, SIMA says.
"The most dangerous part of a snowstorm may be the day or days following the snow, when sunny skies and higher temperatures during the day melt the snow, and lower temperatures at night refreeze the melted snow, creating a cycle that could continue for days," SIMA CEO
But sometimes it's not that easy, particularly for the elderly or infirm.
