Floodwater damages most units at Frederick storage company

"We didn't have a place to go right away, so we put 90 percent of everything in our single-family town home into that unit," he said.
The water was 4 feet high in their unit, he said. They lost a cherry bedroom furniture set, couches, leather chairs and desks. They saved an ottoman, but not its matching chair.
"We spent all day Friday and all day Saturday and all day Sunday going through it," he said. People who had belongings in neighboring units cleaned them out over the weekend, he said.
"Everybody was trying to determine what could be salvaged," he said.
"We've asked everyone to come in and evaluate their units," Norman said.

According to Norman, most of their customers have insurance, but Choy said the insurance he and his wife had wasn't enough.
The property was flooded with 2 to 4 feet of water after a dam for a nearby stormwater pond collapsed overnight. Other businesses in the area, including an auction house, had to throw out thousands of dollars' worth of property after the flood.
