Rep. Becerra Introduces Bill on Merging of Insurance Trust Funds

WASHINGTON, July 24 -- Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., has introduced legislation (H.R. 3150) to amend title II of the Social Security Act "to merge the Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund and the Federal Disability Insurance Trust Fund."
The bill was introduced on July 22 and has 22 co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., Judy Chu, D-Calif., Barbara Lee, D-Calif., Mark Pocan, D-Wis., Jim Langevin, D-R.I., Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, Joseph Crowley, D-N.Y., Danny K. Davis, D-Ill., Charles B. Rangel, D-N.Y., Linda T. Sanchez, D-Calif., Jim McDermott, D-Wash., John Lewis, D-Ga., Richard E. Neal, D-Mass., Mike Thompson, D-Calif., Bill Pascrell Jr., D-N.J., John B. Larson, D-Conn., Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., Doris O. Matsui, D-Calif., Elijah E. Cummings, D-Md., Raul M. Grijalva, D-Ariz., and Keith Ellison, D-Minn.
The legislation was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee.
