Tornado Victims File Against Insurance Company

As potential jurors answered questions Wednesday, each had a different story to tell about
One person had damage to their home because of the storm. One knew a person who lost their life in the tornado. One person worked at a funeral home that offered free services to victims' families. One remembered taking shelter that day but never received damage to their home. Several also volunteered to help with cleanup following the tornado.
Over the next week, pictures of the Becerra's damaged home will be shown as evidence, a defense attorney told the jurors. One of his questions was, could they turn off their emotions linked to the tornado.
The attorney said they were looking for jurors with an open, blank slate, with no favor shown to either party based on their personal experiences from the tornado.

The insurance company also "unfairly and unreasonably" depreciated the Becerra's dwelling and property in an effort to reduce the amount of money paid to the couple for their claim, the document states.
In the petition's Prayer for Relief, the couple asked for five things, listed below:
--Payment for all contractual benefits for all coverages afforded to the Becerras under the subject homeowners policy of insurance for damage to their property caused by the
--Compensatory damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress and mental pain and suffering;
--Disgorgement of the increased financial benefits derived by any and/or all of the defendants as a direct result of the defendants' wrongful conduct;
--Actual and punitive damages each in an amount in excess of
--Prejudgement interests, costs and attorneys' fees.
