"She somehow go a hold of all (of the teachers') data from another agency she had worked for," Rajender said. "These teachers applied for annuities through that other agency, and when she moved on, she submitted the fraudulent applications for new annuities."
The commissions were paid to Morales up front, Rajender said, and she was able to get away with the scheme for so long because it takes an insurance company several months to underwrite the annuities.
Morales, 51, was charged with 31 counts of felony insurance fraud and identity theft following an investigation conducted jointly by the district attorney's office and the

"I don't know what came over her to want to do something like this," Rujender said.
Morales will serve three years and four months in state prison for her crimes.
