Highmark members to keep maternity care at Magee in 2015

It wasn't immediately clear how many patients will benefit from the agreement, which follows a consent decree in June between Highmark and UPMC. The acting state insurance commissioner,
"There's been so much consternation and anxiety out there.
A commercial contract that allowed Highmark customers in-network access to UPMC concluded in December. The consent decree includes a "continuity of care" provision designed to let Highmark members keep seeing UPMC doctors for care of ongoing medical conditions.
But Highmark and UPMC are clashing over how to apply the decree. Some of those disagreements have boiled over into arbitration.
