Beaufort County ambulance company fearing closure appears to be getting paid
Parsick said his company and others around the state were threatened with closure by the unpaid claims, putting clients who depend on the service to get to kidney dialysis and other medical appointments at risk.

Parsick said he had to slash payroll 40 percent and ate through the company's savings to keep it afloat after the glitch cropped up in late November and early December. Shoreline typically serves 950 people a month in its five-county coverage area and has 27 patients across three of the counties --
Now that the claims are getting paid, Shoreline is in better financial shape, Parsick said. But it still has had problems submitting authorization forms, which allow the company to regularly transport patients for nonemergency services, such as dialysis.
Parsick said he has had to resubmit forms as many as six times before approval.
"We're seeing progress, and we're definitely starting to get paid, but there's a whole new set of problems we just found out," he said. "We aren't sure if it's a glitch or human error."
