Wirth, defense lift Wallenpaupack to Division II girls soccer crown

The two teams met again Saturday and this time, the Lady Buckhorns played the way Sodano knew they could.

"It's a good win," Sodano said. "It'll help us moving on into districts, especially to play and win a big game. It's been an up-and-down season but for us to come together and play as well as we did today when the game's on the line, it feels great."
From the opening kick, Wallenpaupack (8-5-1) came out firing and narrowly missed on three opportunities in the first 25 minutes. But the Lady Buckhorns had their best chance in the 36th minute and took advantage.
"We definitely needed that before halftime," Wirth said. "It definitely picked us up and motivated us for the second half."

"I knew that we had that cushion we were looking for at that point," Wirth said. "It definitely made me and my teammates a lot more satisfied. We knew we were in a better position to win."
Wallenpaupack continued its defensive dominance for the remainder of the game and avenged that 1-0 loss five days earlier.
"We saw positive things but we're going to need to be able to move forward and have offense to win these games in the (district) playoffs," North Pocono coach
