Ontario-Montclair School District’s classified employees protest

Allen said that within 12 months, the benefits allotted to management and confidential staff, made up of administrators and the superintendent, have more than doubled. The main concern of the group gathered Thursday is affording health insurance.
"I hope that they'll see the injustice that they're doing to us and that we would be treated with respect, with dignity, with fairness," Allen said. "And we want to be equitable. We want them to look at what we're going to say and we want them to say, 'You know what, they have a point. We should give everyone the same amount of money.' Stop the percentages. It should be judged on the service you provide and not your education because we're already compensated in salary for education."
District officials emphasized the importance of the classified staff and said that there are many opportunities for negotiations.
"Our district provides several opportunities for the negotiations process to occur," wrote
"OMSD is an award-winning high-achieving school district, one that we are very proud of. This is not possible without having outstanding and effective classified support staff, teachers, and administrators. All three groups provide outstanding opportunities, services, and programs for the fine students and families we serve."
