Many residents complained adult entertainment was immoral and would lower their property values, though adult enterprises tend to be well-protected by the First Amendment. Many other local suburbs and counties have spent years in litigation trying to shut down existing adult businesses or prevent them from opening, often at great expense.
Presta said he told Marcanio there wasn't enough parking at the proposed site, which has 10 parking spots. The application says the adult cabaret would create some 20 new jobs for the community.
