Car sharing program takes off at UW-Stout

"We have been looking at alternative transportation as one of our sustainability priorities," Rykal said. "We're trying to target new students coming on campus that they don't need to bring a car."
The CarShare initiative is part of an effort to reduce a parking crunch and promote walking, bicycling or riding a bus, Rykal said.

A student intern will be hired to market the rental car effort.
In addition to CarShare, university officials are working on several other sustainability efforts, Rykal said.
