Waynesboro teachers, district reach agreement on new contract

Teachers joining the district in the first year of the agreement will receive
Teachers will get average salary increases of 2.25 percent in each of the first two years and 2.5 percent in the third. This accounts for a 0.75 percent, 1 percent and 1.25 percent increase to the salary schedule in each consecutive year, with teachers with 18 or fewer years of experience moving up one step in the salary schedule. Teachers with at least 19 years of experience do not move up the salary schedule but will receive the same increases each year.
Teachers received a 1.6 percent increase in 2013-14 and will again in 2014-15 over the current contract. They got a 2.25 percent increase in 2012-13 after receiving no increase in the previous two school years.
Coaches and activities advisers will get no increase throughout the three years.
There are no changes to health care insurance or other benefits.
Details on personal and emergency leave have been changed to allow teachers to take leave in quarter-day increments, unlike the half-day increment previously required. "This is beneficial to both the district and the teachers," the release states.
