Two pieces of news provide a flicker of hope amid the doom and gloom.
AUSTIN, TX - August 5, 2014 – Ms. Teresa C. Sheppard, CIC, CISR, AAI, ACSR, CPIW, AIS, Account Manager for Campbell Insurance in Brookneal, Virginia, has just been awarded the most prestigious honor available to insurance customer service representatives: the 2014 National Outstanding CSR of the Year Award.
The Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives (CISR) and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) selected Ms. Campbell as the winner of this award from a field of 42 state winners. After five finalists were chosen from this field, a blue-ribbon panel of five judges evaluated the finalists based on their individual contributions to the insurance community, and the strength of their essays written on the topic: “It is generally agreed that both new and renewal business are crucial to the success of an agency. Explain whether new business or renewal business is more important to the long-term value and profitability of an agency. Identify four ways a CSR, Account Executive, or Account Manager can have a meaningful impact on the new and/or renewal business written by their agency.”
Teresa Sheppard was praised by an associate as “an inspiration and leader for others. She is a supporter of insurance education and professional development for insurance women in our industry. Her numerous designations are just one example of her commitment to professional growth.”
In her essay, Ms. Sheppard cited four ways a CSR, Account Executive, or Account Manager can have a meaningful impact on the new and/or renewal business written by their agency: (1) building trust with carriers and clients; (2) consistently providing clients with accurate and timely responses to their requests; (3) viewing yourself as a “Client Relationship Manager”; and (4) continually educating ourselves.
Ms. Sheppard receives a cash award of $2,000, a distinctive gold and diamond lapel pin, and her name is inscribed on a sculpture on permanent display at The National Alliance headquarters in Austin, Texas. A scholarship will be awarded to her employer, Campbell Insurance for participation in any National Alliance program.
In addition to the selection of Teresa Sheppard as the national award recipient, four national finalists were chosen from a particularly competitive field of applicants:
