Boone County Fair cut short due to lack of insurance

Fair organizers usually get the fair insured through local agency Ferrell and Hill for around
"I got the email from the insurance company and they of course told me he had asked them that whole week to bring (the forms) in, and they took it in at about 1 o'clock on Friday," White said. "He told me he didn't think it was possible to get it covered once it was started."
White soon found out the policy had been denied and informed the three county commissioners: Hendricks,
"We're real disappointed because the people work real hard putting on the fair," Brown said. "It's all volunteer work."
Hendricks said there have been accidents at the fair in the past and that the county couldn't afford to risk being liable for an accident. He said he felt bad for
"I was there the first night and hugged her and told her I was proud of what they do and this stuff, and 24 hours later, you got to shut it down," Hendricks said. "We all hate it, but it was something that had to be done."
Hendricks said he hopes the fair board can use the county's
"I'm pretty sure we're going to know about the insurance and those things next year," Hendricks said. "That's something we've never concerned ourselves with. We're not going to shut off funds from them either. It's just an unfortunate incident. It's not like we're going to hold it against them, but when they come in next year, we'll have a discussion with them about these kinds of things."
