MILLERSBURG -- Ira and Treva Shelton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 11. They were married in 1964 in Mount Vernon.
They are the parents of Danny of Massachusetts, Sandy Barber of DeGraff, Denise Blaber of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Debra Chambers of El Paso, Texas, Debi Bowers and Rick O'Neal, both of Millersburg. The have nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shelton is a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He has been a life insurance agent since 1958 and continues to sell it independently.
Mrs. Shelton sold insurance and was a housewife.
They enjoy fishing, being involved with their church and spending time with their family.
The couple decided to marry on "7-11" because that was Mr. Shelton's ship number in the Navy and he wanted an easy way to remember it.
The couple celebrated by renewing their vows July 12 in front of family and friends at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, Millersburg, by pastor Jim Butler.
